Overview of my work
aimed at a policy audience
Every now and then I
get involved in consultancy work for organizations like the World
Bank, the UN, and the Department for International Development
(DFID; UK). I have worked on projects
investigating, for example: non-farm enterprises in rural Ethiopia;
investment and uncertainty; labor market outcomes; manufacturing
performance; and sources of growth. If you go to my Research page
you will find some of the output from these projects. Currently I am
concentrating on work for the International
Growth Centre, related to the industrialization strategy in
Ethiopia.
In
September 2009 I was invited to Sida to give a talk
entitled "Taking stock of Africa's manufacturing sector", as part of
